Turning socks into a wig (and a beanie if ur boring)
FOLLOW ME ON TIKTOK! @colinjae tiktok.com/@colinjae
INSTAGRAM TOO! @colinjae instagr.am/colinjae
In today's video, we are sewing Nike Socks into a beanie and a bob wig! I saw a meme on Instagram that made me LOL and now we are here. These feel kind of high fashion, in the way that Balenciaga is kind of a meme. I couldn't track down the original creator of the sock wig, despite doing Google Reverse Image Searches. The socks I used are Nike Everyday Crew Socks. This one isn't as focused on sustainability, compared to the previous episodes which were more inspired by thrift flipping and upcycling. I suppose you could re-use some old socks for this.... or thrift them lol. But sometimes it's fun to DIY random stuff.

Sewing an Alexander Wang jacket from thrifted jeans and pillows
Переглядів 1,7 тис.3 роки тому
I’m back on Instagram! @colinjae - to see my artsier side. Woah. Big sewing project today! I took 3 pairs of thrifted denim jeans, an old pillow and some fleece and made an Alexander Wang inspired puffer jacket. *1000$ CAD. This was the most challenging thrift flip upcycle project I’ve undertaken to date. It took several weeks, amounting to 7 hours of footage and 120gB of media. But I absolutel...

Ankle eye serving you some Count Olaf real ness. Come watch me lose my mind for 10 minutes (12 hours real time) while I embroider a pair of sneakers. The shoes were in good shape, but kind of boring, so I did some up-cycling. It’s not the most crazy episode of Sew Yesterday, but it’s a chill time. Come thrift flip with me! My first barber haircut since covid
Переглядів 9113 роки тому
Just thought I would share a little update to say that I finally went back to a barber to get a haircut. 8 months into covid, after I’ve been cutting my own hair since March, using a beard trimmer and craft scissors. Let’s see how the barber did compared to my usual do. The bar is set on the floor. Music Jay You - "Music Elevator" Accessed from freesound.org/people/Jay_You/sounds/460432/
Sewing my ex-boyfriend's jacket into pants
Переглядів 1,1 тис.3 роки тому
This might be the longest video I've uploaded to my channel. All in all, it took me about two weeks to sew my ex-boyfriend's old corduroy jacket into a pair of DIY corduroy pants. We briefly dated two years ago, and the jacket ended up in my possession (it's not actually that dramatic, he was going to donate it and offered it to me). It was quite a hideous jacket, not gonna lie, but now it's a ...
I can't stop cutting my hair
Переглядів 1,1 тис.3 роки тому
I've been cutting my own hair over the past 8 months, using only a beard trimmer and a pair of standard craft scissors. I've been through some ups and some downs. But I feel that this is one of the last times I'll be giving myself a haircut. I went for a proper fade haircut. In a month, when my hair grows out, I'm planning to visit a proper barber shop. How exciting lol. MUSIC/SOUNDS IN THIS VI...
I made my apartment into a photography studio

I decided that since I so rarely use my living room for actual living, I should turn it into a full time photography / film / design studio. And I love the way that it turned out :) I thought I would share the transformation with you guys, since it'll be where my UA-cam videos are filmed going forward. Sewing hot workout gear

Welcome to Sew Yesterday! This is the first episode in my new series of videos covering garment upcycling. I've been going through my closet and I have a big stack of clothing that I no longer wore, so I'm sewing them and tailoring them and reworking my clothing into new pieces. I'm not the best with a sewing machine, so there are some bumps in the road, but we'll figure it out along the way. M...
FIRST VS LAST Self-Haircut of Quarantine
Переглядів 1,2 тис.4 роки тому
I filmed these videos during the first and last week of lockdown where I live in Canada. At the time, I didn't edit the footage or post, so I figured I would add them together so you can see my progression. .I think I've given myself a total of 5 haircuts so far, and I actually kind of love it. I feel like cutting my own hair is something that I just always wanted to try, but didn't have a good...
Curling My Hair with Rollers
Переглядів 27 тис.4 роки тому
lol. It took a couple tries, but we did it... sort of. I have naturally straight hair but I like the look and texture of curly hair. I posted a video a year ago where I curled my hair with a curling iron. I got a lot of questions about hair damage, so I wanted to try and make a video to address those concerns. This method will not damage your hair in any way. The curls should last a few days at...
Going to Every Thrift Store in My City
Переглядів 8634 роки тому
Come thrifting with me! Last Saturday, I visited as many thrift stores as I could in my greater city area. I ended up going to ten thrift stores and shopped for 7 hours. I was exhausted lol. I was looking for used pants, jackets and shoes! I last pair of sneakers I bought was 3 years ago, and the rest of my shoes are 5-6 years old. So I desperately needed to find some footwear, but I wanted to ...

Thanks - when I try this by the end of the day it is all dried out and wrinkly - so I should of started 10 years ago with creams, retinol, and other products, but now for the last 3 months I have morning and night routine as well as salt scrub one or two times a week - i even made my own homemade care for under the eyes at night - really awesome stuff not alot of dark circles or bags when I wake up - and generally i look like I wear makeup but it is all skin care .. because the makeup was not working - maybe now that I am moist I can try makeup on top but a really nice L'Oréal Paris Exfoliating Toner with 5% Glycolic Acid for a Radiant Glow under the eyes and spots is really awesome as well. The skin looks refreshed, moisturised, smooth and glowing but I only use in the morning - recommended at night also as i do 3 minutes in the morning and night I see a big difference

Uhhh, those coats you bought were so freaking cute..! The bomber jacket made me want to get one but I haven't found any anywhere I frequently thrift, which is a handful of locations. That second one might be fleece going by your description and I love it! It's like wearing a blanket. I don't have any with lapels or sharp shoulders like you so I'm uber jealous! Mine are however mustard yellow with navy and oxblood plaid, and one has Rasta colors r, g, y plaid on a blackish blue green(dark cyan) base. Very attractive lol!

I have a receding scalp and was hoping that making it curly will add some density. It did actually, but it never looked so healthy as yours. To add some density I need to scatter curls afterwards and it makes the look worse.

If you want it to last, you can try blow drying your hair in sections with a round brush and while the hair is still hot curling, use the curling rods. You will also getter better definition and shine by using the blowdryer than letting the hair air-dry.

Also I know this video is old but for anyone wanting to go the diy/homebrew route making an oil based clay pomade, use metric measurements instead of eyeballing with tbsp bs. Make batches of 100gr or divide by two the recipe if you think it's gonna be too much or are not sure if you'll like it. Here is a basic recipe : 30gr petroleum jelly (can be replaced with Shea or cocoa butter but will alter consistency most likely) 28gr beeswax 30gr kaolin clay 2gr castor oil 10gr coconut oil. Add essential oils if you'm want to add a scent

  • @waider

Bentonite + metal = no, use kaolin instead.

I tried this with a 13mm barrel and I’m finding that my hair doesn’t go into ringlets while holding for a good 10 seconds, it gives a slight wave in the direction that I curl it, but this is without any product, do you think it would work better with any particular product in my hair?
